December 2023 It’s hard to imagine that it is already December and we are well into the school year. Despite the quick passage of time, there have already been so many great moments in our learning community and it really has been exciting to watch our learners continue to achieve, both academically and in our various extracurricular activities. While the world around us has bombarded our and other communities around the country with so much adversity, we strive to continue to promote a safe and secure environment for all our learners. Sure we have challenges, but we push forward always with the mindset of perpetual reflection and growth. To that end, we continue to encourage all of our stakeholders to provide input and feedback as the success of our school district is dependent on our continued collaboration, understanding, and work towards our common goals - student safety and security coupled with achievement. There is a lot to be proud of. Needless to say, December is in fact a joyous month. Aside from our winter sports, we have a lot of great activities planned for all our learners with an emphasis on bringing the holiday spirit to our entire learning community. It should be noted that while the holidays bring lots of joy, for some it's a time of year that can be very difficult and filled with mixed emotions. As a school district, we have the incredible opportunity to provide a safe haven and holiday joy for community members who perhaps struggle. During the month of December, we will be hosting a variety of events that include, but are not limited to, Íæż½ã½ãHigh School’s Winter Concerts, Month Long Toy Drive, a food drive, Holiday Concerts and dance at the middle school, Frank P. Long’s Holiday Boutique, Íæż½ã½ã Elementary School’s Winter Wonderland, Kreamer Street Elementary School’s Winter Concert, Snacks with Santa Clark and the Holiday Concert at Verne W. Critz. There is much more in store for our students. Please support our various activities and help us spread holiday cheer to our entire community! December also provides four continuous weeks of instruction, so please join us in encouraging all of our learners to buckle down and keep up with their academics. This is a great time to develop good study skills and habits! Your feedback and collaboration is always important to us as we continue to work collectively towards the success of our students. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. As always, it is a real pleasure to serve the Íæż½ã½ã Community as its superintendent of schools. We want to take this opportunity to wish all of our Íæż½ã½ã families and community members a safe and joyful holiday season and a prosperous new year. Please stay safe and healthy! Sincerely, Antonio Santana Superintendent of Schools
